3 Juice Shot Recipes {Immune Support, Gut Soothing and Detoxifying}

While obviously juice shots aren't a replacement for a healthy diet they're a great way to get a quick boost. Some ingredients like turmeric, slippery elm and ginger are easier taken quickly because of their strong taste. I know that I am sensitive to foods taste and texture so these juice shots work well for someone like me!

I have experimented with a few different ingredients and recipes and these three are my favourites.  All of these recipes are made without a juicer because mine is a pain to clean! I have some raw honey in each of the juice shots to make them easier to drink, but it is totally optional.

Immune Boost Ginger Curcumin
Freshly squeezed orange juice contains vitamin C. Ginger soothes the intestinal tract and helps with digestion. Curcumin is the active ingredient in turmeric and can have a some antioxidant properties.  

1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger
1/4 tsp raw honey

1. Mix all ingredients into a bowl and then using a fine mesh strainer, strain out ginger into a small glass
2. Drink (Careful this packs a punch!)

Detox Lemon Beet
This juice shot super cleansing! Beets contain antioxidants and folate. Ginger has anti inflammatory benefits. To make this super tasty lemon beet juice shot, I simply blended it all up in a blender and then pressed it through a fine mesh strainer until I got all of the juice out. Then, discard the pulp and drink!

1/2 a small beet
2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4 tsp grated fresh ginger
1/2 tsp raw honey
2 tbsp water

1. Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth, adding a splash of water if needed to get it moving
2. Then, place a fine mesh strainer over a bowl and pour the juice over. Use a rubber spatula to press the pulp down and squeeze all of the juice out. Let stand for 5 minutes so you get most of the juice.
3. Discard pulp and pour your juice into a serving glass. Drink immediately or chill for a bit. Will keep in the fridge for a day or so, but will taste best when fresh.

Soothing Aloe Slippery Elm
This juice shot is super soothing for the digestive tract. Aloe vera juice is full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals making it one of nature’s most effective cleansers. It also had healing and soothing properties for the digestive tract. Slippery elm turns into a gel when added to water. It coats the digestive tract and soothes. It's worth mentioning that slippery elm may prevent your medications from being absorbed so it's best to take those at a different time.

1/4 cup aloe vera juice
1/2 tsp slippery elm powder
1/2 tsp raw honey

1. stir all ingredients in a small bowl, then add to glass and drink
